Protection from Evil

  • The Prophet sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam¬†was protected from sin and evil.

  • He did not desire to engage in the ugly acts that the people of Jahiliyyah indulged in, except on two occasions. He heard some merrymaking, music and singing coming from a wedding celebration and moved towards it, but he fell asleep before reaching there and only woke up the next day. The same thing happened on another night. (Link)

  • We should make dua to be protected, just as Rasulullah sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam was.

Travel to Learn

  • We should go travel and see the world in order to learn and grow, and not just stick to our locality. The Prophet sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam¬†traveled with his uncles on their business trips to learn about the ways of the world.

  • But you shouldn’t go alone, because if you do Shaytaan will be your companion.

  2. Humility
  3. Bravery
  4. Nurturing and protecting
  5. Unifying and leading
  6. Mercy and compassion

Rasulullah’s Family

Some of the lesser known (for me at least) family members of Rasulullah sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam.

  • His maternal grandfather was Wahb. His paternal grandfather was called Shaybatul Hamd, because he was born with grey hair. He is better known as ‘Abdul Muttalib.

  • He had four foster siblings (the children of Halimah and Harith): ‘Abdullah and Hudhaifah; and Anisah and Shaymah.

  • Besides his uncle Abu Talib, his other uncle Zubair also cared for and looked after him when he was young. It was Zubair who brought back the Hilful Fudool. He passed on when the Prophet sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam was 14 years old.

  • His wife Khadijah radiyallahu ‘anhaa was married twice before. She also received many other proposals but rejected them.
